About this course

Musical theatre performance demands equal command of three distinct disciplines: singing, dancing and acting. To perform it convincingly you must fuse all three simultaneously in the service of a story and a character, and that fusion requires years of technical training, creative development and the resilience that comes from sustained professional preparation. It is one of the most demanding forms of performance training, and one of the most exhilarating.

At Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance you will receive intensive training in vocal technique, movement and acting craft, developed in an integrated way from the outset. The conservatoire environment means you work alongside dancers and musicians in a community defined by professional ambition and artistic seriousness. You will develop practical performance skills through a repertoire drawn from the full history of the musical theatre canon, alongside work that encourages you to devise, create and think entrepreneurially about your own artistic future.

The programme runs over three years full time and builds the discipline, resilience and creative adaptability that the professional world demands.

Graduates pursue careers in West End theatre, touring productions, regional repertory companies, cruise ships, corporate entertainment, television and film. Many also build plural careers that combine performance with choreography, directing, musical direction, teaching, arts facilitation and community performance work. The entrepreneurial dimension of the programme prepares you to create your own work and opportunities rather than simply waiting for them.

The skills developed in musical theatre, including collaboration, communication, physical awareness and the ability to take direction while maintaining creative initiative, transfer widely into education, media and the arts.

Exceeded expectations
Coming here has changed how I think. The best part: the final show is a proper platform β€” industry people come to see it. If I'm honest, the timetable has some awkward 9am / Friday afternoon slots. On the city β€” local cost of living is mana…

A great decision
I was sceptical before starting β€” now I'd recommend it to anyone. The best part: the cohort are bright and motivated, which makes the learning environment great. If I'm honest, accommodation allocation was stressful in the first year. On th…
