Music Production
Music production is the craft and science of capturing, shaping, and presenting sound in recorded form. It encompasses the skills of the producer, who works with artists to develop recordings and shape the sound of a project, the audio engineer, who handles the technical aspects of recording and mixing, and the sound designer, who creates and manipulates audio for film, television, games, and other media. The discipline sits at the intersection of technical knowledge and creative sensibility, requiring you to understand how sound behaves and how to control it, while also having the musical and aesthetic judgment to make decisions about what sounds right.
At Nottingham Trent University this three-year full-time degree develops your practical skills in a professional studio environment alongside your theoretical understanding of acoustics, music technology, and the music industry.
