Music Composition

Music composition is the discipline of creating original musical works, encompassing everything from the initial idea or concept through the crafting of harmonic, melodic, and rhythmic material to the final score or recorded work. It is a practice that demands both deep technical knowledge, including harmony, counterpoint, orchestration, and form, and genuine creative vision: the ability to find and develop ideas that are distinctively your own and to shape them into works that communicate something to listeners. In the contemporary landscape, composition extends across acoustic, electronic, and hybrid forms, and into applied areas such as film, games, and installation.
