Modern Language with a Foundation Year

At the University of East Anglia this four-year programme includes a foundation year, which provides a supported and flexible entry point for students who may not have the standard entry requirements, who are returning to education, or who are still deciding where their academic interests lie. The foundation year gives you space to explore and to build the academic skills you need before committing to a specific language track. From the foundation year, you will progress to degree-level language study, developing your chosen language to an advanced level through integrated teaching of speaking, listening, reading, and writing alongside engagement with the literature, culture, and social life of the country or countries where your language is spoken.

Modern language graduates work in translation and interpreting, teaching, publishing, international business, the civil service, journalism, the diplomatic service, international organisations, and the cultural sector.
