About this course

Mechanical engineering is one of the oldest and broadest engineering disciplines, concerned with the design, analysis, manufacture, and maintenance of mechanical systems. From the engines that power vehicles and aircraft to the machines used in manufacturing, the structural components of buildings and bridges, and the biomedical devices used in healthcare, mechanical engineers apply the principles of physics and materials science to create systems that work reliably and efficiently in the real world. At the University of Hull, the BEng Mechanical Engineering with Foundation Year is a four-year full-time programme that provides a preparatory stage before the main degree for students who need additional scientific and mathematical preparation.
