About this course

Mechanical engineering is the branch of engineering most broadly concerned with the design, analysis, and manufacture of mechanical systems, encompassing everything from precision instruments and engines to large-scale industrial plant and energy systems. It combines physics, mathematics, materials science, and design into a coherent professional practice that produces graduates equipped to work across almost every sector of the modern economy. A programme with a foundation year extends the pathway to students who need to build scientific and mathematical foundations before entering the full engineering curriculum.

At Nottingham Trent University this three-year programme is paired with a foundation year option, giving you the preparation needed to succeed in the engineering degree that follows.
