About this course

Mechanical engineering is one of the broadest and most enduring branches of engineering, concerned with the design, analysis, manufacture, and maintenance of mechanical systems. From gas turbines and automotive components to medical devices and renewable energy plant, the discipline touches almost every sector of modern industry. At its core it is about understanding how forces, energy, and materials interact, and applying that understanding to create things that work reliably and efficiently in the real world.

Mechanical engineers contribute to renewable energy systems, advanced manufacturing, aerospace innovation and intelligent control technologies, making the profession central to the challenges of decarbonisation and digital transformation.

At Glasgow Caledonian University you will study this programme part-time, giving you the flexibility to combine academic study with professional or personal commitments while building your engineering knowledge and skills progressively. The programme includes a sandwich year and a year abroad, both of which extend your practical and international experience in ways that benefit your development as an engineer.
