About this course

Mathematics and computer science together form one of the most powerful intellectual combinations available in higher education. Mathematics is the language of precision, pattern and logical structure, providing the theoretical foundations on which computer science is built. Computer science in turn offers a set of practical and conceptual tools for solving complex problems that arise in science, finance, engineering and everyday digital life.

Studied together, they develop graduates who can move fluently between rigorous mathematical proof and the design of systems that perform reliably in the real world.

At the University of Bristol this four-year programme, in one of the UK's leading research universities, gives you genuine depth in both disciplines. You will study analysis, algebra, probability and discrete mathematics alongside algorithms, programming, computational complexity, machine learning and software engineering.
