About this course

Marketing with digital, increasingly taught under the title of digital marketing, is the study of how organisations communicate with and attract customers through the full range of digital channels, including search engines, social media, email, content platforms, paid advertising and data analytics. It combines creative and strategic thinking with a growing emphasis on quantitative skills, as the ability to interpret data, run experiments and measure marketing effectiveness has become central to how modern marketing teams operate. At London South Bank University this programme, which includes a foundation year, reflects that shift towards evidence-based, analytically grounded marketing practice.

You will study the principles of marketing strategy alongside the specific tools and techniques of digital practice, including search engine optimisation, pay-per-click advertising, social media marketing, content strategy, email marketing and customer analytics. The analytical dimension of the course teaches you to work with marketing data, understand attribution, design and interpret A/B tests and use digital platforms to drive measurable outcomes. The foundation year provides a supported entry into degree-level study, building the academic skills and subject knowledge needed before the main programme begins.

The programme is designed to align closely with what digital marketing employers look for in graduates, with a practical emphasis throughout.

Graduates work across the full range of organisations that market products and services digitally, which is to say virtually every type of organisation in the contemporary economy. In-house marketing roles in retail, e-commerce, technology, financial services, media and the public sector are among the most common destinations, as are roles in digital agencies and marketing consultancies. Social media management, content creation, SEO and paid search specialist, email marketing manager and marketing analyst are among the specific roles graduates move into.

Some go on to postgraduate study in marketing, digital business or data analytics, while others pursue professional qualifications alongside their first roles.

A great decision
Honestly, one of the best decisions I've made. The best part: the consulting projects with real companies genuinely prepare you for the working world. If I'm honest, first-year classes can be quite large. On the city β€” the city is a brillia…

Solid, with caveats
There's a lot to love, but it's not without its flaws. The best part: case-based teaching forces you to think commercially. If I'm honest, accommodation allocation was stressful in the first year. On the city β€” good transport links make it …
