About this course

Marketing and management is a combination that addresses the two fundamental questions every commercial organisation must answer: how do we understand and attract the people we want to serve, and how do we organise ourselves effectively to serve them? Marketing provides the frameworks for understanding consumers, building brands, developing products, and communicating value; management provides the organisational, financial, operational, and strategic tools through which those activities are coordinated and resourced. Together they produce graduates who can think both creatively about markets and rigorously about how organisations work.

At the University of Exeter you will study this three-year programme within a business school with a strong reputation for both academic rigour and employer engagement. You will develop your skills across marketing theory and practice alongside the core management disciplines, including strategy, finance, operations and organisational behaviour, in a programme that emphasises the connection between academic understanding and professional application. The programme includes a sandwich year, a year abroad, and a work placement, giving you substantial professional and international experience that significantly strengthens your graduate profile.

Graduates of marketing and management enter a wide range of careers. Brand and product management, marketing communications, digital marketing, market research, commercial management, general management, consultancy, and business development are all common paths. The combination of marketing creativity and management rigour is valued by employers across consumer goods, financial services, technology, retail, media, hospitality and many other industries.

Exeter's reputation and the professional experience embedded in the programme give graduates a competitive advantage in recruitment. Postgraduate study in marketing, management, digital marketing, or an MBA is an option for those who wish to specialise or develop further, and many graduates pursue senior leadership roles drawing on the dual expertise the degree provides.

Highly recommend
Honestly, one of the best decisions I've made. The best part: the accounting and finance streams are taught by practitioners, not just academics. If I'm honest, would like to see more industry guest speakers in later years. On the city β€” th…

The course has exceeded my expectations. The best part: the careers office is relentless about getting you internships. If I'm honest, a few modules feel under-resourced compared to the flagship ones. On the city β€” local cost of living is m…
