Management is the discipline concerned with how organisations are led, how resources are directed, and how goals are achieved through the coordination of people, processes, and information. It is one of the most broadly applicable disciplines in the university curriculum, drawing on economics, psychology, sociology, and quantitative methods to build a rigorous understanding of how organisations function and how they can be improved. At St Andrews this four-year full-time MA programme introduces you to a variety of organisations across all sectors and teaches you the subject-specific techniques of management, including marketing, organisational behaviour, and the analysis of financial data. The curriculum develops your analytical and critical thinking skills alongside substantive knowledge, empowering you to interrogate evidence, challenge logic, and question established ways of practising management rather than simply accepting current orthodoxies. You will acquire interpersonal skills in problem-solving, critical thinking, and self-reliance that have value well beyond business contexts.

The programme includes a year abroad, giving you the opportunity to study at an international partner institution and encounter management thinking in a different educational and business culture.
