Law with Politics

Law with Politics is a combination that equips you to understand both the legal frameworks that govern society and the political processes through which those frameworks are created, contested, and reformed. Law provides rigorous training in legal reasoning, the interpretation of rules and rights, and the institutions through which justice is administered. Politics adds the analytical tools to understand power, democracy, and governance, examining how laws emerge from political processes and how political authority is legitimised and constrained by legal principles.

The two disciplines are deeply interconnected, and studying them together produces graduates with an unusually complete picture of how organised society functions.

At the University of Keele, this three-year, full-time programme includes a sandwich year and a year abroad, as well as work placement opportunities. You will develop a strong grounding in legal essentials alongside the conceptual vocabulary of political science, exploring topics ranging from constitutional and human rights law to international relations, comparative politics, and political theory.
