Law and criminology is a combination that gives you both the technical understanding of legal systems and the social scientific framework to understand crime, criminal behaviour, and the justice system's responses to them. Law teaches you to reason from principle, to interpret rules and precedents, to identify rights and obligations, and to communicate complex legal analysis with precision. Criminology asks the broader questions: why does crime occur, who is most affected, how do criminal justice institutions operate in practice, and do they achieve their aims?
