Law is the framework of rules and institutions through which societies organise themselves, resolve disputes, protect rights, and hold power accountable. It touches every area of life, from the contracts that underpin commercial transactions to the constitutional rules that govern how states exercise authority, from the protection of individual rights to the regulation of emerging technologies. To study law is to develop a distinctive and rigorous way of thinking: reading complex texts precisely, identifying the relevant principles, constructing arguments, and reasoning carefully about how rules apply to particular facts.

At Westminster this part-time programme is designed to make legal education accessible to students who are balancing study with work or other commitments. From your first year you will be encouraged to develop your own ideas and voice through legal endeavour, studying the core areas of law alongside new and emerging fields that keep the curriculum connected to contemporary legal practice. The programme allows you to define your learning pathway by choosing from a wide range of specialist modules, enabling you to develop particular expertise in the areas of law that interest you most, whether in commercial, criminal, human rights, or other areas of practice.

You will develop skills in legal research, statutory and case analysis, written argument, and oral advocacy, all of which are foundational to legal practice and highly transferable to other contexts. Westminster's location in London gives the programme a connection to a legal community of genuine scale and diversity.

Graduates who wish to practise as solicitors or barristers will need to complete further professional qualifications after their degree. Many also go on to work in legal practice support, compliance, policy, the civil service, journalism, business, and a wide range of other sectors where the analytical rigour of legal training is valued. Postgraduate study in law, public policy, or related fields is another route pursued by graduates.
