Law (Clinical) is a degree that combines the full rigour of a qualifying law degree with an exceptional opportunity: the chance to represent real clients in real legal matters through the University of Strathclyde Law Clinic. Rather than learning law purely through lectures, textbooks and hypothetical case studies, you apply your legal knowledge in live casework from the earliest stages of your training, developing the practical judgment, client communication skills and professional values that the classroom alone cannot fully teach. This clinical approach is one of the most effective methods of legal education available and prepares graduates particularly well for the demands of legal practice.

At the University of Strathclyde, this four-year full-time LLB degree gives you a thorough grounding in Scots law and the foundational areas of legal knowledge, covering contract, delict, property, constitutional and administrative law, criminal law, and commercial law, while the clinical component integrates live case work throughout the programme. The Law Clinic handles real cases on behalf of real clients, typically individuals and small organisations who need legal advice and representation they could not otherwise access, and you work within this environment under the supervision of qualified solicitors and academic staff. Typical entry is around 216 UCAS tariff points.

Graduates are exceptionally well prepared for legal practice, having demonstrated the ability to work with real clients and real legal problems before qualifying. Most go on to traineeships as solicitors in Scotland or develop practice as advocates, while others move into legal roles in business, the public sector, policy bodies, regulatory organisations or legal technology. The combination of academic rigour and clinical experience developed through this programme is highly regarded by employers in the Scottish legal profession.
