Law and Criminal Justice
Law and criminal justice is a combination that develops both technical legal training and a critical understanding of the criminal justice system and the field of criminology that surrounds it. Law equips you with the ability to analyse cases, interpret statutes, construct legal arguments, and understand the principles of the English legal system. Criminal justice and criminology situate those skills within a broader social and political context, asking why certain behaviours are criminalised, how policing and prosecution operate in practice, what the goals of punishment are, and whether the system delivers justice for those who engage with it.
Roehampton University's three-year full-time LLB (Hons) Law with Criminal Justice integrates functioning legal knowledge with deep insights into criminology, as the course itself describes. The programme carries a typical entry tariff of 104 points and includes a sandwich year and work placement opportunities, giving you the chance to gain professional experience in a legal or criminal justice context before you graduate. You will study core legal subjects alongside criminological theory and research, developing analytical and communication skills that are valued in law, policy, and public service.
