About this course

Law and business management is a combination that addresses two of the most practically important domains of knowledge for anyone who wants to work in commercial or organisational life. Law provides the formal framework within which business operates: contracts, company formation, employment relationships, intellectual property, competition, and the regulatory environment that governs markets are all legal questions that arise in virtually every business context. Business management provides the strategic, operational, and organisational knowledge to understand how firms function and how they can be led and improved.

Together they prepare you for the realities of professional and commercial life in ways that neither subject alone fully achieves.

At Aberystwyth, this three-year LLB joint honours programme explores both disciplines through a curriculum that takes their complementarity seriously. You will study the core areas of law, including contract, tort, constitutional, and commercial law, alongside the key aspects of business management, including strategy, marketing, finance, and operations. The two subjects illuminate each other throughout: legal knowledge gives business decisions a framework for managing risk and compliance, while business understanding gives legal study a practical context that sharpens appreciation of why the rules matter and how they are used.

Graduates from law and business management degrees are well placed for a wide range of careers. Those who pursue legal practice will undertake further professional training leading to qualification as a solicitor or other legal practitioner. Others move into commercial roles, contract management, compliance, human resources, banking, consultancy, and the public sector, where the combination of legal literacy and business knowledge is consistently valued.

The degree also provides a strong foundation for postgraduate study in law, business administration, or related disciplines.

Would do it again
I was sceptical before starting β€” now I'd recommend it to anyone. The best part: the teaching staff are genuinely world-class and accessible. If I'm honest, admin can be slow to respond, especially at start of term. On the city β€” the city i…

The course has exceeded my expectations. The best part: the library's legal databases are excellent β€” you learn proper research habits. If I'm honest, a few modules feel under-resourced compared to the flagship ones. On the city β€” local cos…
