Language and culture is a degree that takes seriously the idea that language is not just a vehicle for communication but the very medium through which cultures are constituted, identities are formed, and social life is conducted. It brings together linguistics, cultural studies, and the anthropological study of language in use, asking how language shapes and reflects culture, how meaning is constructed across different social and cultural contexts, and what the study of language can tell us about human cognition, social organisation, and cultural difference.
