About this course

International hospitality, tourism, and events management brings together three closely related industries that share a common focus on creating experiences for people. Hospitality encompasses the management of hotels, restaurants, and food and beverage services. Tourism addresses how destinations attract, manage, and sustain visitor flows.

Events management covers the planning, delivery, and evaluation of events from conferences and concerts to festivals and sporting occasions. Together, they form one of the world's largest service industry sectors, demanding professionals who are commercially skilled, operationally capable, and internationally minded.

At Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh, this four-year full-time programme develops your knowledge of all three sectors, combining management principles, customer experience design, marketing, finance, operations, and sustainability with the specific knowledge of how hospitality, tourism, and events businesses work. You will study how organisations in these sectors create value, manage their teams and operations, and respond to the challenges of an increasingly sustainability-conscious and digitally enabled marketplace. Entry typically requires around 120 UCAS tariff points.

Graduates work in hotel and resort management, food and beverage operations, destination management organisations, tour operators, event agencies, conference venues, tourism policy bodies, and the growing sector of sustainable and responsible tourism. The combination of industry knowledge with commercial and operational skills makes graduates adaptable across all three sectors and internationally mobile. Many graduates continue to postgraduate study in hospitality, tourism, or events management.
