International Business
International business examines how organisations operate across national borders, how they navigate the differences in culture, law, regulation, and market conditions that make international trade and investment both attractive and complex, and what strategies allow them to create and sustain value in a globalised economy. At Kent you will study this three-year full-time programme, exploring the complex interaction between global systems, organisational strategy, and human behaviour that defines international business at its best. You will examine the theoretical frameworks for understanding why firms internationalise and how they choose entry modes, alongside the practical dimensions of managing across cultures, navigating international law and regulation, and competing in markets with different competitive dynamics. The curriculum engages with contemporary global business challenges, from emerging market entry and supply chain management to sustainability, digital transformation, and the geopolitical risks that increasingly shape international commercial environments.
International business graduates pursue careers in multinational corporations, international consultancies, export-oriented businesses, international organisations, trade bodies, and the financial institutions that support cross-border investment. Roles in international marketing, global supply chain management, trade finance, international human resources, and business development are all natural destinations. The ability to understand and work effectively across cultural, legal, and institutional differences is valued wherever organisations operate internationally.
