Human Physiology
Human physiology is the study of how the human body works: how cells, tissues, organs, and systems integrate to maintain the conditions that support life, how they respond to physical and physiological challenge, and how their dysfunction produces disease. At Manchester Metropolitan, this part-time programme allows you to develop expertise in human physiology alongside other commitments, whether professional work in healthcare, sport, or a related field, or personal responsibilities that make full-time study difficult. You will study the physiology of the cardiovascular, respiratory, musculoskeletal, nervous, endocrine, and other systems, developing both theoretical understanding and practical laboratory and research skills. A sandwich year and a work placement are built in, providing direct experience of applying physiological knowledge in professional or research settings.

Graduates in human physiology go on to work in clinical research, NHS research and development roles, pharmaceutical and biotechnology research, sport science, exercise physiology, and laboratory management.
