History and Sociology

History and sociology are disciplines that belong naturally together. At Liverpool Hope University, this four-year full-time degree allows you to explore many historical periods, from the Early Modern era to the contemporary, engaging with themes including nationalism, imperialism, colonisation, decolonisation, gender, and identity. The sociology component develops your understanding of social theory and research methods, providing tools for analysing how societies work and change. The programme includes a foundation year that gives students additional academic preparation before the main degree, a sandwich year for professional experience, a year abroad option, and work placements, all of which add practical and international dimensions to a degree built on rigorous intellectual foundations.
