Health, wellbeing, and social care addresses the interconnected domains of physical and mental health, community welfare, and the systems that support people in need, bringing together public health perspectives, social care practice, and an understanding of the policy frameworks that shape provision. The discipline reflects a growing recognition that health is determined by far more than medicine: the social determinants of health, including poverty, housing, education, and social connection, are as significant as clinical factors in shaping wellbeing across the life course. This three-year full-time degree at Liverpool Hope University includes a sandwich placement year, a year abroad, and embedded work placement experience.

You will develop an understanding of the root causes of ill health and inequality, examining how social, economic, and environmental factors interact to produce health and wellbeing outcomes across different communities and populations. The programme covers health promotion, social policy, care coordination, mental health, disability, ageing, and the professional and ethical dimensions of working in health and care settings. The sandwich year and work placements place you in real professional environments where you can apply your learning and develop the practical skills and professional relationships that employers value.
