Graduate Law

Graduate law is an accelerated route to an LLB for students who already hold a degree in another subject. It recognises that the analytical and research skills developed through undergraduate study in other disciplines are valuable assets in legal education, and allows you to build on that foundation to acquire the legal knowledge and professional grounding needed for the next stage of qualification. Law is one of the most intellectually demanding and socially consequential disciplines, engaging with questions of justice, rights, power, and the organisation of human society.

At the University of Exeter, this two-year full-time LLB provides excellent preparation for a legal career. You will study the foundational subjects of legal knowledge required for the academic stage of qualification as a barrister, and the programme is equally well suited to those planning to qualify as solicitors. Exeter's law programmes are taught in a research-led environment with a strong reputation for academic quality and professional outcomes.

You will develop legal reasoning, research, and analytical skills alongside deep knowledge of substantive law across areas including contract, tort, criminal law, public law, and equity. The typical entry tariff is 152 UCAS points.

Graduates of graduate law programmes who plan to qualify as solicitors in England and Wales will need to complete the Solicitors Qualifying Examination and meet the requirements of the Solicitors Regulation Authority. Those aiming to practise as barristers will need to complete the Bar Vocational Studies qualification and meet the requirements of the Bar Standards Board. Beyond the traditional legal professions, law graduates are sought after in business, finance, government, the civil service, compliance, and policy roles.
