Global philosophies and worldviews combined with sociology is a degree that takes seriously the full breadth of human intellectual and social life. Global philosophies and worldviews moves beyond the predominantly European tradition of academic philosophy to engage with the great intellectual and spiritual traditions of Africa, Asia, the Islamic world, South Asia and beyond, exploring questions of truth, value, the nature of the self and the good life from the perspectives of Confucian ethics, African philosophy, Hindu metaphysics, Buddhist thought, Jewish existentialism, Islamic political philosophy and much more. Sociology provides the empirical and theoretical frameworks to understand how societies actually work, how inequalities are produced and how social change happens.

At Liverpool Hope University, this four-year full-time programme includes a placement year and a year abroad alongside work placement opportunities integrated throughout, giving you both professional experience and international exposure as part of your academic formation. The combination of philosophical breadth and sociological analysis develops in you the capacity to move between abstract thinking and empirical inquiry, to understand different cultural logics on their own terms, and to bring a genuinely global perspective to questions about social life and human values.
