Geography/Scottish Literature
Geography and Scottish literature is an unusual but intellectually stimulating combination that brings together one of the most practically relevant and analytically broad academic disciplines with one of the richest, most distinctive, and most underexplored literary traditions in Europe. Geography examines the relationships between human societies and the physical world, considering the variability in physical and human landscapes and the interrelationships between them. Scottish literature provides access to a literary tradition written in multiple languages, including English, Scots, and Gaelic, and spanning medieval romances, Enlightenment essays, Romantic poetry, and a vivid twentieth and twenty-first century literary scene.
At the University of Glasgow, this four-year, full-time degree includes a year abroad, adding an international academic and cultural dimension to a programme that is already rich in distinctive content.
