About this course

Geography and business is a combination that reflects the fundamentally spatial nature of commercial and economic life. Businesses operate in places, supply chains cross geographies, markets are distributed unevenly, and environmental change creates new risks and opportunities that are inherently geographical. A degree that develops your understanding of both the physical and human environment and the principles of business strategy and management gives you a distinctive perspective that is increasingly sought after.

At the University of Nottingham, this three-year full-time programme integrates genuine academic geography with substantive business content. You will study physical and human geography, including climate systems, urban geographies, environmental management, globalisation, and development, alongside management, strategy, marketing, and finance. Research methods are central to both disciplines, and you will develop skills in quantitative and qualitative analysis, fieldwork, GIS, and business data interpretation.

The programme includes a sandwich year, a year abroad, and work placement opportunities, giving you substantial professional experience and an international perspective before you graduate. All candidates are considered individually, and the typical entry tariff is 136 UCAS points.

Graduates from geography with business programmes go into careers across environmental consultancy, urban planning, logistics, international business, financial services, public policy, and management in the private and public sectors. The combination of analytical breadth and commercial awareness is particularly valued in organisations that need people who can think across disciplinary boundaries. Further study options include postgraduate programmes in geography, business, environmental management, and urban planning.

Would do it again
The programme genuinely lives up to its reputation. The best part: the teaching staff are genuinely world-class and accessible. If I'm honest, a few modules feel under-resourced compared to the flagship ones. On the city β€” local cost of liv…

Highly recommend
I've grown so much academically and personally here. The best part: the opportunity to do independent research in the final year is a highlight. If I'm honest, would like to see more industry guest speakers in later years. On the city β€” the…
