Geography at the University of Aberdeen is taught as a discipline that is key to understanding some of the most pressing problems facing contemporary societies, from climate change, energy transitions, and environmental degradation to poverty, urban development, and the challenges of sustainable living. This four-year full-time programme, which includes a year abroad, develops highly skilled graduates who can think critically and contribute to addressing these problems, drawing on both physical and human geography alongside the quantitative and qualitative methods needed to investigate complex real-world questions.

You will engage with core and optional courses that reflect the contemporary challenges the discipline addresses, developing expertise in areas that may span climate science and geomorphology, urban geography and migration, development and inequality, environmental conservation, or the geopolitics of natural resources.
