Geography
Geography is the study of places, landscapes, and the relationships between people and their environments. It is one of the most genuinely interdisciplinary subjects available at university, drawing on natural science to understand physical processes such as climate, erosion, and hydrology, and on social science to examine human patterns of settlement, migration, inequality, and economic development. The discipline asks both how the world works and how it is experienced, making it uniquely placed to address some of the most urgent questions of the age, from climate change and urbanisation to globalisation and environmental justice.
The University of Leicester's three-year full-time geography programme includes a sandwich year, a year abroad, and professional work placement experience, providing an unusually rich combination of academic study and real-world engagement. Leicester has particular research strengths in physical geography and environmental change alongside strong human geography traditions, and the programme allows you to develop across both branches of the discipline or to deepen a specialism.
