About this course

Geography and management brings together two disciplines that share a concern with how the world works at scale: geography examines the physical and social processes affecting our rapidly changing planet, while management asks how organisations navigate and respond to those changes. Geography develops your understanding of environmental systems, human geography, spatial analysis, and the relationship between societies and their physical environments. Management develops your understanding of organisations, strategy, decision-making, and the commercial and operational challenges that businesses and other institutions face.

At Loughborough University, this four-year full-time BSc is a joint honours degree that appeals to those looking to extend their knowledge of the social and physical processes affecting our planet while also developing their understanding of management. You will study physical geography, human geography, quantitative and qualitative methods, and environmental science alongside marketing, finance, operations, and organisational behaviour. The combination provides an unusually strong foundation for careers at the intersection of environmental and commercial work, such as sustainability management, environmental consultancy, and corporate responsibility.

Entry typically requires around 136 UCAS tariff points.

Graduates work in environmental management, sustainability consulting, urban planning, corporate social responsibility, business management, logistics, international development, and government. The dual perspective the degree provides is increasingly valuable to employers who need people who understand both environmental realities and organisational decision-making. Many graduates continue to postgraduate study in geography, environmental management, or business.

Would do it again
I've grown so much academically and personally here. The best part: the accounting and finance streams are taught by practitioners, not just academics. If I'm honest, first-year classes can be quite large. On the city β€” good transport links…

Genuinely worthwhile
The programme genuinely lives up to its reputation. The best part: the cohort are bright and motivated, which makes the learning environment great. If I'm honest, some seminar groups were too big for meaningful discussion. On the city β€” loc…
