Fine Art

Fine art at degree level is concerned with the development of an independent creative practice that engages seriously with contemporary artistic thinking and the history of art. It is not a fixed curriculum but an evolving conversation between student artists, tutors, critics and peers, in which students are expected to develop their own artistic voice, to take risks with their work and to situate what they are doing within a broader cultural and critical context. Fine art education at its best produces artists who can think, make and articulate their practice with confidence and who understand the wider world in which contemporary art is produced and received.
