About this course

Events and experience management is the discipline concerned with the planning, delivery, and marketing of gatherings and experiences of all kinds, from corporate conferences and product launches to music festivals, sporting events, and large-scale cultural celebrations. The events industry is one of the most dynamic and logistically demanding sectors in the economy, requiring professionals who can manage multiple workstreams simultaneously, respond to the unexpected with composure, and create experiences that meet the expectations of both clients and audiences.

At York St John University, this three-year full-time programme with a foundation year includes a sandwich year, a year abroad, and work placement opportunities, making it one of the most comprehensively structured events management degrees available. The foundation year provides a supported preparation before the main degree, and the combination of sandwich year and placements gives you significant professional experience in real events environments before you graduate. You will study the theory and practice of event planning and production, marketing and audience development, financial management, risk assessment, sustainability in events, and the management of people and logistics across different types of event and scale.

The combination of academic theory and practical development the programme provides prepares you for the realities of a fast-moving and competitive industry.

Graduates go on to careers as event managers, production coordinators, marketing executives, festival managers, conference organisers, and venue managers across the corporate, cultural, sporting, and charitable sectors. Many build careers with event agencies, venues, or the in-house event teams of major organisations, while others develop specialist expertise in areas such as live music, sport, or high-profile corporate events. Postgraduate study in events management, marketing, or hospitality management is another route, and some graduates go on to launch their own event businesses.
