About this course

Event management is the discipline of planning, organising, and delivering experiences for audiences ranging from corporate conferences and trade exhibitions to festivals, sporting events, and ceremonies. It requires a combination of strategic planning, commercial awareness, logistical precision, and creative vision, bringing together project management, marketing, budgeting, supplier negotiation, and on-the-day operational expertise into a single, high-pressure discipline. The events industry is large and diverse, and those who manage it well are among the most versatile and in-demand professionals in the hospitality and creative sectors.

At Coventry University this three-year full-time programme gives you the opportunity to learn from industry experts and engage with real-world opportunities at national-leading venues, including major exhibition and entertainment centres. You will develop skills in event design, project management, marketing, financial planning, risk assessment, and stakeholder management, alongside an understanding of the commercial and regulatory contexts in which events are delivered. A sandwich year and a year abroad are incorporated into the degree, and a work placement is built in, giving you substantial professional experience in the events industry alongside your academic studies.

Graduates in event management go on to careers across a remarkably wide range of sectors, since almost every large organisation produces events of some kind. Corporate event management, conference and exhibition production, festival and live music management, sport event operations, charity fundraising events, and government and public sector events are all directions that event management training opens. Many graduates move into agencies, venues, or in-house event teams, and the entrepreneurial nature of the industry means that independent practice is also a common route.

Postgraduate study in event management or hospitality and tourism management is another path for those who wish to develop their expertise further.

I've grown so much academically and personally here. The best part: the careers office is relentless about getting you internships. If I'm honest, would like to see more industry guest speakers in later years. On the city β€” local cost of li…

A great decision
The course has exceeded my expectations. The best part: small-group tutorials really push your thinking. If I'm honest, accommodation allocation was stressful in the first year. On the city β€” the city is a brilliant student city with plenty…
