Environmental Geography

Environmental geography occupies an important space at the intersection of the physical and human worlds, examining how landscapes and ecosystems function, how human activities alter them, and how the environmental challenges we face can be understood and managed. It draws on physical geography, ecology, biology, and human geography to build an interdisciplinary understanding of the environment that is both scientifically rigorous and attentive to the social, political, and economic contexts in which environmental decisions are made.

At Liverpool Hope University, this three-year, full-time programme develops your understanding of how physical processes shape landscapes and ecosystems, how human activities disrupt or alter those processes, and what frameworks and approaches can support effective environmental management. You will study biodiversity, ecology, environmental biology, and the dynamics of human-environment interaction, gaining both fieldwork skills and the analytical capabilities needed to interpret environmental data and research. The programme includes a sandwich placement year for extended professional experience, a year abroad that exposes you to different environmental contexts and scientific communities, and work placement integrated throughout.
