About this course

Enterprise and innovation is a discipline that sits at the intersection of business strategy, technology, and creative thinking, concerned with how new value is created within organisations and how businesses can adapt, change, and grow in environments where digital transformation and competitive disruption are constant forces. It draws on entrepreneurship, management, design thinking, and technology to equip graduates not only to understand existing business models but to challenge and reshape them.

At Birkbeck this four-year full-time programme includes a foundation year, giving you a preparatory stage before you enter the main degree. Across the programme you will develop expertise in business management alongside the specific knowledge and skills needed to lead innovation and navigate digital transformation. You will study the core functions of business, understanding where and how management of people, technology, and resources contributes to organisational success, while the enterprise and innovation strand equips you with the leadership, creative problem-solving, and entrepreneurial thinking needed to drive change rather than simply respond to it.

Birkbeck's London location provides exceptional access to a business community in which digital transformation and entrepreneurship are central concerns, and the university's distinctive identity supports engaged, intellectually serious learning.

Graduates move into roles in business development, innovation management, digital transformation, consulting, entrepreneurship, product management, and technology leadership. The degree is well suited to graduates who want to be agents of change within organisations rather than simply operating within existing frameworks. Many also go on to postgraduate study in innovation, entrepreneurship, or technology management.
