At the University of Keele, this full-time three-year programme includes a sandwich placement year, a year abroad and work placement opportunities, ensuring that your academic study is grounded in direct professional and international experience. You will engage with a diverse range of literary works from various cultures and historical periods, developing advanced skills as a writer, creative thinker and analyst of both literary and everyday language. As you progress through the degree you will have the opportunity to specialise in the authors, periods, genres and critical approaches that interest you most, building a distinctive profile alongside a strong foundation in the discipline.

English graduates go on to careers across a remarkable breadth of sectors. Teaching at secondary level is a traditional and important destination, and many graduates go on to complete a PGCE. Journalism, publishing, communications, marketing, public relations, the civil service, law, arts administration and the creative industries are all well-established paths.
