Spanish opens access to the literatures of Spain and twenty Latin American nations, from medieval epic and the Golden Age drama of Lope de Vega to the twentieth-century modernism of Borges, Lorca, and Garcia Marquez, and to the rich contemporary writing across the Spanish-speaking world today.

At Surrey, this four-year full-time programme integrates AI tools and digital skills throughout, building the confidence and technical literacy that employers value alongside the analytical and linguistic competencies that the two literary traditions develop. You will study English literature with critical depth and historical breadth, while developing your Spanish language proficiency and engaging with the literary and cultural traditions of the Hispano-American world. A year abroad gives you the opportunity to study in a Spanish-speaking country, deepening your linguistic competency and cultural understanding.
