About this course

Electronic engineering is the discipline concerned with the design, development, and testing of electronic components, circuits, and systems that underpin virtually all modern technology, from consumer devices and communications infrastructure to industrial control systems, medical equipment, and the emerging fields of quantum devices and nanotechnology. It draws on physics, mathematics, and computing to develop the ability to design systems that process and transmit information, convert and control energy, and perform precise measurement and sensing functions.

At the University of Southampton, this five-year full-time MEng in Electronic Engineering with Industrial Studies provides an integrated master's level education in the discipline, allowing you to design, build, and test your own electronic systems, including a project to solve a real-life engineering problem. You will explore the latest advances in areas such as quantum devices and nanotechnology, alongside more established areas of electronics design, signal processing, and embedded systems, and you will develop skills applicable to major societal challenges including sustainable energy and data security.
