About this course

Electronic engineering deals with the design and analysis of circuits, systems, and devices that use electrical signals to carry, process, and display information. It is the discipline behind telecommunications networks, consumer electronics, computing hardware, medical devices, renewable energy systems, and the sensors and controllers that make modern automation possible. As the world becomes more dependent on connected and intelligent systems, electronic engineers who can design reliable, efficient, and innovative hardware have never been more sought after.

At the University of Surrey, this four-year full-time programme includes a foundation year that gives you the mathematical and scientific grounding you need before the main degree begins. Across the programme you will study circuit theory, signal processing, electromagnetics, embedded systems, software for hardware applications, and power electronics. You will develop both analytical skills and hands-on laboratory and design skills, working on real projects that give you experience of how electronic systems are built and tested in practice.
