About this course

Electronic and electrical engineering shapes the world in ways that are easy to overlook precisely because the technology it produces is so ubiquitous. From the World Wide Web and global mobile phone networks to laptop computers, electric vehicles and renewable energy sources, the discipline is responsible for an enormous range of the systems that modern life depends on. Electronic engineering focuses on the design and development of electronic circuits, devices and systems, while electrical engineering deals with power generation, transmission and distribution.

Together they cover a spectrum of challenges from the microscopic, designing semiconductor devices, to the very large, designing national grid infrastructure.

At Swansea University you will study this three-year full-time programme, developing a thorough grounding in both the theoretical foundations and the practical engineering skills of the discipline. You will cover circuit theory, electromagnetics, digital systems, signal processing, control systems and power electronics, alongside programming and the use of industry-standard design and simulation tools. Laboratory work runs throughout the degree, giving you hands-on experience with the equipment and methods that engineers use in research, development and testing.

Swansea's location in south Wales, close to a growing technology and manufacturing sector, provides a professional context for your studies. The typical entry tariff is around 120 UCAS points.

Electronic and electrical engineering graduates are in consistently strong demand.
