About this course

Electrical and electronic engineering is concerned with the generation, transmission and control of electrical energy and the design of electronic systems that process, store and communicate information. From power grids and electric vehicles to integrated circuits, wireless communications and medical devices, the discipline underpins a vast range of modern technology. As the world transitions to electrified transport, renewable energy and digitally connected infrastructure, electrical and electronic engineers are at the centre of some of the defining technological challenges of the coming decades.

At the University of Warwick, this three-year programme develops specialist knowledge of the scientific concepts, design and methods relating to electrical and electronic engineering products, processes and systems, as the university describes, within an engineering school known for the quality of its teaching and its strong industrial connections. The degree includes a sandwich year, a year abroad and work placement opportunities, providing structured routes to develop professional experience and international perspective alongside your academic study. You will study circuit theory, electromagnetics, digital systems, control engineering, power electronics, communications and signal processing, developing both the analytical foundations and the design skills that professional engineers use throughout their careers.

Warwick's strong connections with industry, particularly automotive and manufacturing sectors in the West Midlands region, provide a context in which your education is shaped by real engineering challenges and opportunities for professional engagement.

Graduates go on to careers in power generation and distribution, electronics design, automotive engineering, defence, telecommunications, aerospace, industrial automation and technology consulting. Further study at masters level is an option for those seeking specialist expertise or the integrated masters qualification for chartered engineer status.
