Education and global philosophy and worldviews is a combination that connects the study of how people learn and how educational systems are organised with the examination of the great philosophical and religious traditions that have shaped how human beings understand themselves and their world. Education as a discipline draws on psychology, sociology, history, and policy to understand the conditions in which learning occurs, how teaching can be made effective, and how educational systems can serve diverse learners equitably. Global philosophy and worldviews moves beyond the Western philosophical tradition to engage with African, Chinese, Hindu, Islamic, Jewish, Buddhist, and other systems of thought, asking what different cultures have understood about truth, ethics, the good life, and what it means to be human.

At Liverpool Hope this three-year full-time programme brings the two disciplines into productive dialogue. You will develop both a deep understanding of educational theory and practice and a genuinely global philosophical perspective that enriches your approach to questions about human development, values in education, and the diverse backgrounds and worldviews that students bring to the classroom. The combination is particularly valuable for anyone interested in education in diverse or international settings, or in the philosophical dimensions of curriculum and pedagogy.

A sandwich year, a year abroad, and work placement experience are all built into the programme, providing professional experience, international study, and a practical portfolio alongside your academic studies.

Graduates move into careers in education, teaching, educational leadership, community education, interfaith work, pastoral and chaplaincy roles, social care, and policy. Many go on to postgraduate teacher training or further study in education, philosophy, or theology. The combination is also a strong preparation for international education and development roles.
