Economics with politics develops two of the most powerful analytical frameworks for understanding contemporary societies and their choices. Economics provides the tools for analysing how resources are allocated, how markets function and fail, and how macroeconomic policy shapes growth, employment and inflation. Politics provides the concepts and methods for understanding power, institutions, democracy and international relations.

At the University of Bath, this four-year full-time programme includes both a sandwich year and a year abroad option, plus a work placement, giving you the full range of professional and international enrichment options.

You will study microeconomics and macroeconomic theory, econometrics and quantitative methods alongside comparative politics, international relations, political theory and the analysis of specific policy domains. Bath's programme is structured so that the final year is made up entirely of optional units, allowing you to concentrate your attention on the areas of economics and politics that interest you most. The sandwich and study abroad options mean that for many students the programme effectively spans additional years beyond the standard three, adding professional experience or international study in depth.
