Economics is one of the most versatile and intellectually rigorous of academic disciplines, concerned with how societies make decisions about the allocation of scarce resources and the consequences of those decisions. It examines the behaviour of individuals, firms, and governments through a combination of theoretical modelling and empirical analysis, and it has developed powerful frameworks for understanding markets, trade, inequality, growth, and the effects of policy. The questions economics addresses, from why poverty persists to how monetary policy affects employment, are among the most important facing the world today.

At the University of Exeter, this three-year full-time programme is built around excellent teaching and genuinely engaging final-year modules that deepen your understanding and develop your passion for the subject. A sandwich year is incorporated into the programme, giving you the opportunity to work in an economics-related role before your final year. A year abroad is also available, and work placement is additionally part of the degree.

You will study microeconomics, macroeconomics, econometrics, and a range of applied fields including international economics, public economics, financial markets, and development.
