Economics, Psychology and Philosophy

Economics, Psychology and Philosophy is a combination that brings together three disciplines with a shared interest in how individuals and groups make decisions and what that tells us about human nature and social organisation. Economics studies how people allocate resources under conditions of scarcity and how markets, institutions and policies shape those allocations. Psychology examines the cognitive and contextual factors that influence individual decision-making, many of which deviate from the rational models that classical economics assumes.

Philosophy provides the conceptual foundations and the tools of rigorous argument for asking deeper questions about what rationality means, what good decision-making requires and how we should organise collective life.

At the University of Warwick this three-year full-time degree works at the intersection of all three subjects, starting from an in-depth study of human nature and building outward to consider how cognition, context and social structure shape the decisions of individuals and groups, and how we can use that understanding to help people and institutions make better choices. The programme includes a sandwich year, a year abroad and a work placement, giving you substantial professional and international experience alongside your academic studies.

Graduates from Economics, Psychology and Philosophy degrees are exceptionally well placed across a wide range of careers. Many go into management consultancy, economic analysis, finance, public policy and behavioural insights roles, where the combination of economic rigour, psychological realism and philosophical clarity is particularly valuable. Others find careers in research, technology, education, the civil service and the growing field of behavioural economics.

The degree also provides excellent preparation for postgraduate study in economics, philosophy, cognitive science or psychology.
