About this course

Economics, finance, and management is a degree that prepares you to engage with commercial and financial life from three complementary angles. Economics provides the analytical framework for understanding how markets work, how incentives shape behaviour, and how policy affects economic outcomes. Finance addresses how money is raised and deployed, how assets are valued, and how financial risk is assessed and managed.

Management gives you the tools to understand how organisations are directed and how decisions are made within the commercial and corporate world. Together, they develop a comprehensive and rigorous preparation for careers across the business, financial, and professional services sectors.

At Queen Mary University of London, this three-year full-time programme benefits from QMUL's proximity to London's financial centres, which provides access to industry connections, professional networks, and the world-leading financial marketplace in which many graduates go on to work. Specialist academic staff and facilities support a programme that is designed to give you professional training in economics and finance alongside knowledge of how the corporate world operates in practice. You will study microeconomics, macroeconomics, econometrics, corporate finance, investment, financial markets, and management principles, developing both the quantitative rigour and the commercial awareness that employers in these fields expect.

Graduates go on to careers in investment banking, asset management, corporate finance, financial analysis, economic consulting, risk management, and the management functions of major organisations. The combination of economics, finance, and management knowledge is valued across banking, professional services, technology, retail, and the public sector, and many graduates move quickly into roles with significant analytical and commercial responsibility. Many pursue professional qualifications in finance, accounting, or investment management, and postgraduate study in finance, economics, or business administration is another route.

Highly recommend
The programme genuinely lives up to its reputation. The best part: the accounting and finance streams are taught by practitioners, not just academics. If I'm honest, would like to see more industry guest speakers in later years. On the city…

Genuinely worthwhile
I've grown so much academically and personally here. The best part: the consulting projects with real companies genuinely prepare you for the working world. If I'm honest, some seminar groups were too big for meaningful discussion. On the c…
