Diagnostic Radiography

Diagnostic radiography is a healthcare profession that uses ionising and non-ionising radiation to produce images of the human body for the purpose of diagnosis, treatment planning, and monitoring. Diagnostic radiographers operate sophisticated imaging equipment, including X-ray, CT, MRI, and fluoroscopy systems, and they play a valuable part in the patient pathway by providing the imaging needed to support diagnosis, treatment, and recovery. At Birmingham City University, this three-year full-time BSc (Hons) programme develops your knowledge and practical skills in radiation physics, anatomy, physiology, imaging science, and patient care. You will learn to operate the full range of diagnostic imaging equipment, to position patients correctly for optimal image quality, to ensure patient safety and radiation protection, and to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary clinical team.
