Dance and Musical Theatre

Dance and musical theatre is a degree that brings together two performance disciplines, each demanding considerable technical and creative commitment, and asks students to develop the skills and artistic identity needed to practise both. Dance develops physical precision, choreographic thinking, and an understanding of how movement communicates, drawing on a range of techniques from contemporary and classical forms to physical theatre and site-specific practice. Musical theatre develops vocal performance, acting, and the particular integration of song, movement, and dramatic interpretation that defines the form.

The four-year full-time Dance and Musical Theatre programme with Foundation Year at Liverpool Hope University focuses on performance and choreographic practices that shape you into an adaptable, reflexive, and independent dance and theatre artist. The foundation year supports students who need additional preparation before entering the main degree. Throughout the degree, you will foster creativity, develop your own signature practice, and engage with a diverse range of techniques and theories, building the knowledge, skills, and understanding that professional performance careers require.

A sandwich year, year abroad, and work placement options provide substantial professional and international experience within the programme structure.
