About this course

Cyber security and networks addresses one of the defining challenges of the digital age. As organisations, governments and individuals have become dependent on interconnected digital systems, the security of those systems has become a matter of economic, political and personal importance. Cyber attacks, data breaches, ransomware and the disruption of critical infrastructure are among the most consequential risks facing modern society, and the professionals who can protect networks, identify vulnerabilities and respond to incidents are in exceptionally high demand.

At Glasgow Caledonian University the four-year full-time programme gives you a comprehensive grounding in the principles and practices of cyber security and network engineering. You will study network architectures and protocols, security design, threat modelling, penetration testing, digital forensics, cryptography and incident response, developing both the theoretical understanding and the practical technical skills that professional security work requires. The programme includes a sandwich year in industry and work placement opportunities, giving you direct experience of working in a security or networking context alongside your academic qualification.
