About this course

Our Criminology and Sociology BSc (Hons) degree is an ideal course for those who have an interest in social justice and social issues. Discover more here. Examine crime and social justice at one of the UK’s top universities for criminology.

Our BSc Criminology and Sociology degree combines two dynamic subjects. Together, they offer a detailed understanding of crime, its causes and prevention alongside a broader understanding of how societies and individual lives are changing because of rapid changes in the social, cultural and political fabric of society. Studying these complementary disciplines places our students at the centre of contemporary debates about discrimination, inequality, disorder and justice and equips them with the knowledge, skills and passion to confidently critique current policies and propose novel solutions.

The degree brings together core and advanced modules in criminology and sociology. This ensures a unique ability to understand crime as well as broader underpinning societal processes and key issues including racism, changing gender roles, shifts in economy, consumption, leisure and intimate relations.
